                                       WHY CEO EMPLOYS

We live in a world that has many needs to be met. It is only those who meet those needs that gain an undeniable relevance. And it is truly an opportunity in guise. Many people run away from problems but the few who run to challenge them by sourcing for the best solution draw a great channel of wealth to their lives.

General Trend

The issue of unemployment is not unknown to you especially in an African county like Nigeria. Unemployment is not restricted to developing countries, but also developed countries. This is because the issue of unemployment has many factors responsible for it.

In developing countries, unemployment is majorly a result of the unfavorable economic and political environment including the knowledge and skill gap on the part of the citizens.

In the developed countries like the USA, where the unemployment rate is low (6.2%), the few who are unemployed are not employed mainly because of cyclical factor (temporary unemployment caused by a recession which results in company laying off employees due to the high inflation rate and low demand for their products or services).
And the major source of employment in the USA is through small-medium scale enterprise (SME) that employs less than 100 people. Also, in the USA, over 23 million small businesses employ more than 50% of the private workforce and generate more than half of the nation's GDP.

Unemployment in Nigeria

Unemployment is simply the proportion of the employable labor force that could not lay hold on any reliable job for a definite period. Nigeria as a developing country was reported by the National Bureau of statistics to have an unemployment rate of 27% in 2020 which is 4% higher than the 23% of the 2018 survey.

The underemployment rate was reported to be 29% in 2020 which was higher than 20% in 2018. When combined 52% of the labor force is either without jobs or working below their potential. An examination of the unemployment rate by level of education reveals that 41% of the labor population with a bachelor's degree are without employment.

The unemployment rate among bachelor's degree holders is higher by 18% for people with vocational skills (19%). The unemployment rate for master's and doctorate holder are both individually 23%. This data implies that there could be more vocational or blue-collar jobs than white-collar jobs in Nigeria, revealing the enormous available informal economy, where most blue-collar jobs operate.

This also means that a university degree is not an assured route to gainful employment and policymakers should strengthen vocational training to prepare young people for worthwhile and productive blue-collar careers.

Many factors are responsible for the high unemployment rate in Nigeria, it includes, slow economic growth, unfavorable labor policy, low level of industrialization, poor coordination of the labor policy at the subnational level, low quality of labor force, outdated educational system, and undiversified source of revenue, which is limited to the petroleum oil sector. 95% of Nigeria's means of exchange is from oil and 80% of every budgeted revenue is bid on the oil. This harms the economy of the nation if the oil transaction is interrupted, which is frequently interrupted.

Why you need to know Why CEO Employs

There are various forms of unemployment: recession based (the major cause of unemployment in developed countries) temporary unemployment, unemployment due to technological advancement that reduce the need for the labor force, unemployment due to incompatibility of the employer's need and the employee's expectation, unemployment due to old age, wrong attitude, ignorance of the job opportunity and lack of skill or expertise to be gainfully employed.

Employers employ not because they feel like it, they employ because there is a need for it. It is done out of necessity. And if as a person, you can understand this need and develop solutions to those needs, you will increase your chance of being employed. We are in a time that jobs are no longer waiting for skill but skill is awaiting jobs. And the educational system that is still in use was designed to train people to get awaiting job. This is untrue in the present state that we find ourselves.

The best way to overcome unemployment is to help find problems that people face and provide solutions for them, in form of a product or service. But to be able to start a small-scale business or begin to develop solutions, you have to first find a source of income. This could be getting hired in a company, small scale, medium, or large industry. And the best way to approach a company is to understand and develop competence around it. If you can do this, you will triple your chance of being employed among thousands of people who apply for the same job.

Why CEO Employ

TIME

The issue of time as a major reason for employment is a need for a startup small-scale brand that employs less than 30 employees. If the CEO could do all the work in 24 hours without getting tired, there would have been no need to employ. When applying to small-scale businesses, the focus of the employee is driven towards efficiency and speed. Such an employer won't be looking for an expert but an average competent person because the speed is more important than the proficiency of the skill, since the CEO has the needed proficiency, so an average skilled person is considered suitable.

This doesn't mean that the employer would prefer an average skilled person to a more competent one even if they apply for the same position. This is because the employer employs from the position of the need for time, not a skill so that he is not willing to increase the payment of the employee based on the proficiency of the employee. However, many employees considered such a company or employers has been cruel. But it doesn't have to be seen that way. The employer believes he can also handle the position very well and is only willing to pay for the time value. So whenever you apply to jobs like this, show your proficiency but don't emphasize it and express your passion, interest, and availability for the position.

SKILL

An expanding startup (usually a medium-scale business having a workforce of 30-100) will need to face new challenges and demands for growth and therefore requires more external skill that is beyond the expertise of the employer. This brand is expanding on her foundation and needs new skills. This is in contrast to a starting company that needs little of the expertise but more availability. In this type of brand, the organizational need is a relevant skill of high proficiency that can fit the new wing of responsibility. This type of need can be pictured by saying that the CEO has become bigger and needs subordinate competent mini CEOs. As an employee, it is better to identify the particular need of the organization and develop competence around it.

Your proficiency can be emphasized in this type of proposal and showing pieces of evidence that you have done the job before or can do the job will further increase your chance of being hired. That is why it is good to start to put to use your knowledge or skill for perfection and to have a track record of evidence of your expertise. Even if you are giving it out for free at the inception, it will help you in your proposal evidence for the job and constitutes your experience. This is a high-income job and requires a high-income skill or knowledge.

INNOVATION

A company that has achieved lots of success and is expanding does not need time or just skill but new ideas for gaining more market. An employee that is likely to win a proposal, in this case, has to be someone with excellent expertise and who has proven ideas or strategies on how to use the skill to better push forward the company.

This one requires lots of experience and competence and is attainable. You must be able to convince your employee that the idea is worth investing and you can coordinate it. It is a high-income job that is similar to a consultation service in its approach. A successful company when hiring especially when no employee was laid off needs more success through innovation and the best way to approach it is to come with solutions for the need. The employee must understand the brand's vision and mission and must be able to develop ideas that will foster the achievement of the vision.

In conclusion

You must as a distinguished employee, identify the need of the brand you want to work with see whether you are truly competent to undertake the task. It is better not to apply for every job and it is not even possible to be able to do all jobs, you need to be selective and specific in your skill. The more you are specific in your need meeting skill, the more it will be easy to select the organization that aligns with your skill and will furnish your skill. Don't be afraid or arrogant by refusing to start from a lower level but be afraid when you don't start at all. Don't apply for all jobs, but for relevant ones, especially those that align with your vision and moral standard.

Most employees approach job proposals from the position of their need which in most cases is related to finances but the tragedy is, no company will hire because of the need of the employee but based on their needs, so it is better to be need meeting in your approach. Isn't it amazing that even successful companies need compatible innovation ideas and that is a great opportunity? Everyone has needs. To develop competence to be confident to be able to present your solution. You are a person of intangible value by your special knowledge or skill that can meet needs and proffer solutions, so you don't need to beg. The company will offer you tangible value ( usually money) and will indirectly offer knowledge experience value.
